What MainStreetTM Business License Does...

Provides the ability to issue and track various types of licenses and permits for one-time permits such as garage sale permit, and solicitor’s permits, or for recurring licenses with subsequent renewals such as  business licenses, liquor licenses, and contractors licenses.

Provides for collection of privilege taxes, employment taxes, and sales or gross receipts taxes.

Provides for the collection of rental housing taxes, with the issuance of licenses dependant upon user-defined departmental approvals and inspections.

Establishes rate calculation formulae for each license type, for both initial fees and license renewals. Rates can include base charges, minimum charges, maximum charges, and can be based upon number of units, gross receipts, inventory value, number of employees, and other user defined fields.

 

Sends renewal applications to each business, for each type of license. All businesses that received a license last year will receive a renewal application automatically. 

Processes Business License renewals quickly because previous application information is copied from last year’s application. 

Allow renewals to be processed directly through the Business License system or through the Cash Receipts system.

Allows you to process privilege tax returns through the Cash Receipts system, or in the sales tax office.

Allows Licenses to be printed upon demand as soon as renewals and payments are processed.

Provides for Licenses and Permits to be issued on an interim basis, pending departmental approvals.

Provides follow-up reporting for those businesses or customers that have not renewed their licenses, or have licenses pending approvals from code enforcement or other departments.

Tracks delinquencies and applies penalties and interest from the Accounts Receivable module. 

Allows for late fees/penalties to be calculated for licenses/permits not renewed on time.

Keeps a detailed history of each year’s license and application. 

Maintains a financial history consisting of new license/permit charges, renewal charges, adjustments, penalties, and payments for the life of the business or customer.

Shares a common property file which may be cross referenced by the tax billing,  utility billing, building permits, and other property related applications.
